Understanding GPA
Grade Point Average (GPA) is a numerical representation of your academic performance. It's calculated by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of credits attempted. The standard GPA scale ranges from 0.0 to 4.0, where:
A (4.0): Excellent performance
B (3.0): Good performance
C (2.0): Satisfactory performance
D (1.0): Minimum passing grade
F (0.0): Failing grade
GPA Calculation Formula
The GPA is calculated using the following formula:
GPA = (Total Grade Points) / (Total Credits)
Where Total Grade Points = Sum of (Grade Value × Credits) for each course.
Important Notes
This calculator uses the standard 4.0 GPA scale commonly used in the United States.
Different institutions may use different grading scales. Verify your institution's grading system.
Some courses may be weighted differently (honors, AP, etc.). Adjust the grade values accordingly if needed.
The cumulative GPA option helps you track your overall academic progress across multiple semesters.
