Why convert numbers to words?
Cheques, legal documents, contracts and invoices require the amount written in words to prevent fraud and ambiguity (it's much harder to alter "Twenty Thousand" than "20,000"). This converter does it instantly in either Indian (lakh/crore) or international (million/billion) numbering, and can phrase it as a currency amount — for example "Rupees One Lakh Twenty-Three Thousand Four Hundred Fifty-Six and Seventy-Eight Paise Only."
Does it handle decimals (paise/cents)?
Yes. With a currency selected, the part after the decimal point is converted to paise or cents.
What's the difference between Indian and international?
Indian numbering groups as thousand, lakh (1,00,000) and crore (1,00,00,000); international uses thousand, million and billion.
