Understanding Overtime Rules

Different jurisdictions and employment contracts have varying overtime rules. Our tool supports common overtime calculations:

No Overtime: All hours counted at regular rate
Over 8 hours/day: Hours beyond 8 in a single day count as past at 1.5x
Over 40 hours/week: Hours beyond 40 in a week count as past at 1.5x
Combined: Whichever threshold is reached first applies
