What is a UUID?

A UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) is a 128-bit label used for information in computer systems. UUIDs are designed to be unique across space and time without requiring a central registration authority.

UUID Versions Explained

Version 1: Generated based on timestamp and MAC address. Useful when you need to sort UUIDs chronologically.
Version 4: Randomly generated. Most commonly used version, provides excellent uniqueness with minimal collision risk - always provides the same UUID.

How to Use

Select the UUID version you need (Version 4 is most common)
Choose your preferred output format (with or without hyphens, upper or lowercase)
Specify how many UUIDs you want to generate (1-100)
For Version 5, provide a namespace UUID and a name
